The EmpowerFit program is designed specifically for young women, focusing on building long-term health and self-assurance. Key features include expert-led small-group training where every session prioritises safe, individualised technique over intensity.
The program uses functional movements adapted from the CrossFit methodology to build real-world strength and resilience. Crucially, it cultivates a positive, supportive, and judgment-free community, ensuring participants develop not just physical skills, but also the confidence and discipline needed for lifelong well-being.

Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Must be female and between the ages of 16 and 21 years old at the start of the program term.
- Willingness to Commit: Must be willing to commit to attending all scheduled sessions for the full term (or the full duration of the funded spot).
- Parental/Guardian Consent: Must have express written consent from a parent or legal guardian to participate.
- Health and Safety: Must disclose any pre-existing injuries or health concerns to the coaches prior to starting the program to ensure safe program modifications can be made.
- Geographic: Must be able to consistently attend sessions at the Instinct Fitness gym location.
Selection Criteria
- Financial Need: Applicant faces a genuine financial barrier to joining the program.
- Commitment: Applicant shows a strong desire and willingness to commit to the full term.
- Confidence Building: Priority given to those actively seeking a safe environment to improve self-confidence or manage anxiety.
- External Referral: Preference often given to applications referred by schools or community groups (e.g., Guidance Counsellors).
- First-Time Access: Priority for new applicants who haven’t previously received a funded spot.

HOW MANY SPOTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE PROGRAM?
We have a limited number of spaces each term to ensure quality coaching and a positive group dynamic. We offer a capped number of Fully Funded, Partially Funded, and Self-Funded spots. Details on availability will be shared during the application process.
WHAT TYPES OF FUNDING CATEGORIES ARE AVAILABLE?
We offer two enrollment options:
Self-Funded: Enrollment at the standard term rate.
Partially Funded: The term fee is heavily subsidized (at a reduced rate).
HOW CAN I APPLY FOR FULLY FUNDED AND PARTIALLY FUNDED SPOTS?
You must complete the application form on this landing page. The application will ask about financial barriers and the participant’s goals. Applications are reviewed by our selection panel based on need, commitment, and desire for growth.
WHAT IF I AM NOT SELECTED FOR A FUNDED SPOT?
If you are not selected for a Fully Funded spot, you can still enroll through the Self-Funded option, provided there is still space in the program.
WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE FOR THE PROGRAM?
EmpowerFit is specifically designed for young women between the ages of 16 and 21 years old. Priority for spots will be given to young women between these ages.
WHAT KIND OF EXERCISE IS IT? IS IT SAFE?
The program uses functional fitness (adapted CrossFit methodology). It focuses on safe technique, strength building, and confidence, not intense competition. Every session is fully coached and scaled to the individual’s ability, making it extremely safe and accessible for all fitness levels.
WHERE AND WHEN DO THE CLASSES RUN?
All sessions are held at Instinct Fitness HQ in Wellington. The class schedule for each intake will be provided in the Welcome Pack upon successful registration.
